The Glassblower's Manifest

from Saintland by The Starling Radicals

/

about

“Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea” - Dylan Thomas

lyrics

Do daughters grow up
When their sons learn to love
Or must we still wait for now?

For that day brings a storm
And with the rain a mother reborn
But I guess it'll never come around

For the boy in this tale
Is a girl who couldn't spell 'fail'
And the womb that she bailed wants her back

And once in a while
They might share a smile
But the womb wants the child painted black

There's a line in a play
Defines the things I say
So the signs on display know their source

To find you were found
Long ago in the crowd
Is like a hand from the clouds holding yours

So try, understand
That your love is only sand
And the shape of this land too must pass

You are time fading out
Just a grain waiting to drown
With a realm, castle and crown made of glass
